During children's time, our project was to realize a tower that represents our oneness on a common project and our individual creativity expressed through separate elements.
We began with a short discussion of famous historical towers.
We addressed why people build towers, how hard they are to build, and one religiously significant tower.
Break in small teams, or work individually if the group is smaller.
Each team will construct one layer of a the tower, to be assembled later in the last third of the time. Teams are encourage to make their layers interesting, after establishing the basic structure. They are encouraged to use christian symbols to decorate the layers (crosses, doves, as constrcuted from smaller K'nex parts).
They can apply any creative idea they wish as long as their layer meets the connection requirements at it's top and bottom edges. The layers should be easily connected together without creating special any adapters sections.
The layers must also be balanced, so as not to make the overall tower unstable.
We used a small scale to weigh each layer, and we build the tower with the heaviest layers at the bottom and the lightest at the top.
Here are the results along with a picture of the creative hands involved.
