Colophon: an inscription placed at the end of a book or manuscript usually with facts relative to its production.
These pages are created as hand-edited HTML in the open source editor EMACS. This provides the best portability among browsers and operating systems. Many of the figures are from scans that are then processed on Linux (Redhat 8.0) using the open source GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program). In general, images are resized to a maximum 600 pixel width, and then sharpened and contrast adjusted for clear display. Some figures are drawn with Dia, another open source program for creating complex diagrams, with the final figure exported in PNG image format (an open source replacement for GIF format).
